The process below describes the basic installation method of a new Type 6 Elastomeric Joint which will allow movements from 35mm to 150mm.

  • Surfacing is cut and materials removed as required to form the joint recess.

  • The carrier rails are cut as required and placed into position for welding.

  • The Nosing Mortar is then placed in the recess at dimensions agreed noting minimum requirements for depth and width as advised by Manufacturer

  • On semi curing a 1-3mm calcined bauxite is then applied by hand spreading onto the surface and compacted to enhance skid resistance.

  • Once cured the newly formed expansion gap is then visually inspected and the elastomeric insert installed and compressed into the carrier rails.
